Every person you meet has battles you cannot see.

They have their own fears.

Their own hopes.

Their own stories.

Their own burdens.

Their own hidden challenges.

Lately, I’ve been reminded of that every single day.

As I answer questions from our clients, I hear what they’re facing behind the scenes—health challenges, relationship struggles, financial stress, uncertainty, loss.

It has changed the way I see people.

It’s made me slower to judge.

Quicker to listen.

More compassionate.

More understanding.

Because it’s so easy to react.

Real strength is learning to respond.

Recently, something happened that brought this lesson even closer to home.

Many of you know Andrea, my dear friend and assistant of more than 13 years.

Her family lives in Venezuela.

One evening, her aunt and 3 children stepped out to grab pizza.

While they were gone, a powerful earthquake struck.

Their building collapsed.

Their home…

Everything they owned…

Gone.

This is what’s left of their home.

By the grace of God, they survived simply because they happened to be out getting dinner.

But many people they knew and loved did not.

More than fifty friends, neighbors, and family members lost their lives in an instant.

Imagine being left with nothing but the clothes you’re wearing.

No home.

No possessions.

No certainty about tomorrow.

Just the opportunity to begin again.

When something like this happens, it reminds us how quickly life can change.

So I asked myself,

“How can I help?”
